DTE Energy Names Joann Chavez Vice President
DETROIT, January 25 - - JoAnn Chavez has been named vice president and chief tax officer at DTE Energy. She will be responsible for overseeing the tax function that includes federal, state and local income and property taxes.
Chavez, an Ann Arbor resident, joins DTE Energy from Atlas Oil Co. of Detroit, where she was director of taxation. In that position, she was responsible for income, excise and sales tax compliance for the company that has nearly $1 billion in sales.
Prior to that position, Chavez served as a tax partner in KPMG LLP's Detroit Business Unit serving large multinational clients.
"We are pleased to have a person of JoAnn's caliber join the DTE Energy leadership team," said David E. Meador, DTE Energy executive vice president and chief financial officer. "She's well prepared to direct the company's tax expense and tax credit functions."
Chavez earned her bachelor of business administration degree and her juris doctorate degree from the University of Notre Dame.
